There are two ways to connect your Yahoo mailbox:
- Connecting mailbox using forwarding
- Connecting mailbox using IMAP
We recommend using the first option because that way emails reach Deskie much faster, not to mention the possibility of setting up any SMTP. If the mail service you use doesn’t support forwarding, you can connect it via IMAP.
Connecting mailbox using forwarding
1. Go to your admin account to the section “Channels”, subsection “Email”, click “Add email address”, and choose “Your own” option.
a) Enter the email you are planning to add. If you use Yahoo mailbox with your own domain, enter it in the email address field. For example, support@yourcompany.com.
b) Choose a group where your cases delivered to this mailbox will land by default.
c) Enter the following data manually:
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Encryption: SSL
Note: If you connect a mailbox with your own domain, the outgoing server settings, port, and encryption do not change.
d) Copy your system mailbox that will be receiving forwarded emails. It looks like support.[your personal code]@dev.deskie.io.

2. Set up forwarding emails to the Deskie system mailbox in the Yahoo web interface.
a) Follow this path: Mail → Settings (gear icon in the upper right corner) → More Settings.

b) Go to the “Mailboxes” section. First, choose the mailbox you want to connect from the “Mailbox list” subsection. Next, scroll down the right panel to the bottom, where you can find the “Forwarding” block. Enter the system mailbox address you previously copied and click “Verify “ and save the changes.

3. Go back to Deskie. Enter the agent’s account and switch to section “Cases”. Open the letter “Please verify your email address” from Yahoo. To confirm the redirect click on the link in the letter. In a new window click “Verify”.



4. Go back to your mailbox web interface and obtain the app password to use Yahoo SMTP (so we can send agents answers through Yahoo).
a) Open your Account info.

b) Go to the “Account Security” section and scroll down the right panel to the block “Generate app password”.

c) In the popped-up window, click “Get started”, enter your app’s name and then click “Generate password”.

d) Yahoo will automatically generate the password. Copy the password.

5. Go back to Deskie, insert the password you copied in the field “Mailbox password”, and click “Connect”.

Connecting mailbox using IMAP
1. Go to your admin account to the section “Channels”, subsection “Email”, click “Add email address”, choose “Your own” option and then select “through POP3 or IMAP”.
a) Enter the email you are planning to add. If you use Yahoo mailbox with your own domain, enter it in the email address field. For example, support@yourcompany.com.
b) Choose a group where your cases delivered to this mailbox will land by default.
c) Manually enter the following data:
Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 993
Encryption: SSL
Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Port: 465
Encryption: SSL
Note: If you connect a mailbox with your own domain, the incoming and outgoing server settings, port, and encryption do not change.

2. Get the app password from your mailbox web interface.
a) Open your Account info.

b) Go to the “Account Security” section and scroll down the right panel to the block “Generate app password”.

c) In the popped-up window, click “Get started”, enter your app’s name and then click “Generate password”.

d) Yahoo will automatically generate the password. Copy the password.

3. Go back to Deskie, insert the password you copied in the field “Mailbox password”, and click “Connect”.

Deskie will receive all emails from your Inbox folder.
